President's Message
Dear Weavers,
Happy Lunar New Year!
Best thing about this holiday is that it continues all month. People born under the sign of the Wood Snake are said to be resilient and courageous. May we encourage plenty of THAT as we try to find our way forwards.
Hope you know by now that we have Janet Phillips coming to our February Zoom meeting.
Bernie got in touch with the amazing English weaver after seeing her on Instagram. Her schedule was open for our February 17th meeting. Yay! Janet will be talking to us about Colour and Weave Structures.
Here is a link to her website that includes a Textiles & Tea interview.

Back to going forwards…There are a couple of National Boycotts coming up. One on February 28th against Big Box stores, and the other is March 7th thru 14th against Amazon. Lonnie will talk more about it at our meeting.
We have an in-person get-together on March 3rd at the Senior Center, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and, our March regular in-person meeting at the Senior Center is on the 17th, St. Patrick’s Day. Shamrocks, anyone?
As always, Happy Weaving.~ Vicky

The Golden Gate Weavers Guild meets the third Monday of the month, 10:00am to Noon in the Gooseberry Room, at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Ave, or on Zoom. No meetings in July, August and December.
Study Group
Our Study Group meets Saturday, February 22, 10 AM, at Susie Hodges' house, 1272 Queens Rd, Berkeley. We will continue our study of Krokbragd and Bound Weaves.
Bring any drafts or samples you have to share. A couple of looms will be available for weaving one of your color drafts. We will continue drafting Krokbragd on a different threading or try drafting a 4 shaft Bound Weave. Bring a ruler, a dark pen, and colored pencils or pens. For weaving, bring a selection of different weight yarns from your stash.
You may bring your own threaded table loom if you prefer. It can be put on the upstairs dining room table if you don't want to carry it downstairs.
Get Togethers
An informal gathering and an opportunity to discuss the Colour and Weave talk by Janet Phillips, Show and Tell, and review the Study Group's Krokbragd and Bound Weaves.
Get Togethers are on the first Monday of the month, 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the Gooseberry Room, at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Ave.
Show and Tell
February 14th is Valentine's Day. Here are Wei Zhang's Heart-themed soap gift bags and draft

Krokbragd was the focus of the Study Group and Get Together in January. See Susie's sampler, and Sheep on Susie's 100+ year old table loom.
