President's Message
Dear Fellow Weavers,
Welcome Spring! I see blossoms peeking out from the rain and life feels hopeful once more.
Thanks again to our Newsletter & Communications Person, Bernie, for setting up the Janet Phillips presentation in February. Janet is
always so inspiring. Wakes up my little gray cells every time.
March Meeting
It did move the 2nd half of the Peter Collingwood video to our March meeting. The second half takes place in his weaving studio. He
shows how he adapted his looms to do specific weaves and pieces. This video is about 35 minutes long.
CNCH Asilomar news
This year’s Grant Silent Auction Theme will be a Project Tote filled with inspiration. Think exotic fibers, vibrant colors and distant lands.
Ideally, each guild will put together a tote; individuals are also welcome to produce their own tote. The tote should include everything needed for a complete project: yarn, fiber, basket making materials, etc. and ideas/instructions for one or two different items that can be made from the contents of the tote.
One idea: Prepare the fabric for a large rag rug in a bag made of that fabric. Include either cotton or linen warp yarn, ski or rag shuttles, tapestry needles for the finish work.
Please bring ideas and inspiration on Monday so we can start making this donation a reality.
Monday is also St. Patrick’s day - remember to wear green. All show-and-tell projects welcome, especially those with green threads!
Happy Weaving. ~ Vicky

Janet Phillips "Colour and Weave Structures" talk takeaways:
- What is it: 2 colors in the warp and the same 2 colors in the weft

Approach - weave gamps, and :

Cut and change select warp threads

Mix thick and thin threads, i.e. use a Think black warp thread with a thin black in weft, and visa versa for White
